Danica Hoffmann-Cresswell and Mike Fekete have turned celebrating birthdays into a charitable effort. On April 25, Mike and Danica celebrated their birthdays at a party hosted by Joanna and Eddie Arnold at the Straight Up Builders complex. A buffet dinner was served, and the Hooligans provided live music. Mike and Danica were inspired by Bob Butte and his family’s dedication to supporting various childrens programs, so decided to turn their party into a fund-raising event.
During the party, a silent auction and raffle was held. The response was amazing. Organized by Monica Seals, Chris Arnold, Ed Arnold, Joanna Arnold, Danica Hoffmann-Cresswell and Mike Fekete, over $3,500 was raised. Donors to the auction and raffle included skate companies: Shorties, Visual, Wise Riviera, Endemic, Sector Nine and Classic. Other donors included the Santa Catalina Island Company, Hotel Metropole, A Touch of Heaven Day Spa, Island Breeze Spa & Salon, Steve’s Steakhouse, Maggie’s Blue Rose Restaurant, M Restaurant by Zest Catering, Catalina Express, The Lobster Trap, Avocado Café, Avalon Seafood, Parasail, CSC Skate Shop, Taste of Catalina, 3 Palms Arcade, Catalina Coffee and Cookie Company, Catalina Jet Ski Rental, the Catallac and Gaia Studio.
Mike and Danica donated $2,500.00 to the City of Avalon for the skate park, and $1,000.00 to the Avalon Schools’ Special Education Department.
This was a great way to party with a purpose! Mike and Danica hope to turn this into an annual event, and they appreciate everybody who attended their birthday party and gave generously to this charitable event.
