Members of the Catalina Island Women’s Golf Club and their golfing guests participated in the annual June Putting Contest at Hamilton Cove.  On any given day, the eighteen hole course is a challenge, but the heavy dew on Thursday morning, June 9, made it especially difficult to sink any long putts. Still, there were nine holes-in-one made during the tournament. Elena Maria made two, and the following players each made one:  Marty Ashleigh, Carol Deets, Judy Grear, Gail Fait, Marsha Aquinde, and Trina Aune.

After the tournament, the awards committee found that the top scores in both the Individual Player and the Team divisions were tied.  The scores were submitted to a card-off. It took three pre-determined holes to finally break the ties and determine the winners.

First place Individual Player was Val Schafer. Second place was Cathy Sweeney, and third was Alison Osinski. In the team division, first place went to the team of Elena Maria, Carol Deets, and Ellen Shensky.  Second place team honors went to Val Schafer, Cindy Wilmoth, and Judy Johnson.  In third place was the team of Trina Aune, Judy Perez, Marsha Aquinde, and Annie Marshall.

Following the tournament, the  participants met at Descanso Beach for lunch and awards.
