Catalina Island Womenʼs Golf Club
On a Wednesday morning was a glorious day for golf. The mild weather and clear skies were welcome after the destructive storms of last week. The Catalina Island Women’s Golf Club members spent the morning competing in a lighthearted tournament that involved skill, but also relied on a bit of good luck as well. the third hole, it was up to each individual player to choose. In the tournament format, the score for each of three holes on the nine-hole course would revert to par for the hole. Two of the altered scores would be determined by a random draw. The first hole was chosen before play started, and the second one was drawn after the tournament was completed. As for The overall winner of the tournament was Val Schafer. A close second was Elizabeth Madden, and third place went to Connie Friel. Elena Maria won the ‘longest drive’ award. After the tournament, the group met for lunch and awards at The Lobster Trap.
