Hospital Auxiliary Gives $25,000 To CIMC

CIMCAuxiliary donation

The Avalon Hospital Auxiliary’s (AHA) “Unloved Gift Shop” has a mission. Their dedicated Board of Directors and volunteers accept quality resale and gently used items which are then sold to residents and Avalon visitors. In the process, the AHA commits to donate the proceeds from their hard work to support Catalina Island Medical Center (CIMC) (specifically in the areas of improved patient comfort and satisfaction). Recently, Christy Lins, AHA Treasurer, presented CIMC’s CEO John Friel with $25,000 toward purchasing media-center equipment for the hospital residents’ activity area (Oak Room) including a 55-inch LED Smart TV, DVD player and wireless compact speakers. Patients will enjoy internet access to “Skype” with far away family members, look up “youtube” videos or classic films and musical programs. A new heavy-duty bariactic-powered patient lift, an autovent patient transport respiratory ventilator and a new Sanosite micro ultrasound for the emergency department will also be purchased with these Auxiliary funds.

Donations of quality resale goods or money to the “Unloved Gift Shop” are welcomed and always appreciated. Shelves outside of the thrift store are provided for after hours drop offs. Please send all tax-deductible donations to AHA PO Box is 65 Avalon, CA.  90704-0065.
