CIMC Turns 55, Chamber Mixer Showcases Hospital’s “New Look” And Invites Community To Celebrate In Style
By Judy Hibbs
Catalina Island Medical Center’s 55th Birthday Party and Chamber Mixer welcomed over 100 people to the hospital on Thursday January 15 from 6-8 pm. It was “one of the largest chamber mixers ever” according to Chamber associate Amelia Lincoln. The hospital which originally opened its doors on January 24, 1960, has recently completed a beautiful renovation.
The party unveiled CIMC’s new floors, fresh paint, new lobby furnishings and custom photographic artwork by hospital staff members and islanders. An amazing array of food served by Steve’s Steakhouse and a delicious cake by Katrina Lee of Island Cakes added greatly to the evening’s success. Personal tours throughout the evening escorted guests up the new handicap accessible ramp, through the lovely new lobby and offered views of the radiology department and therapy services. John Friel, CEO thanked “everyone who contributed to the original building’s design and construction” as well as the “CIMC Foundation which donated funds to make comprehensive improvements to the patient areas, waiting rooms, and hallways”. The remarkable transformation serves to enhance the overall experience for those residents, visitors and families who need medical services in Avalon.
CIMC serves its patients through a truly integrated healthcare delivery system consisting of physician offices, acute care hospital and skilled nursing services along with its extensive outpatient programs.
