In addition to many great ghoulish gatherings in Avalon on Halloween Night, the Avalon Rotary Club held it’s 2nd annual Halloween Costume Party and Fund Raiser. The “M” was transformed with scary inflatables and attendees in great costumes. In addition to the usual vampires, devils, and demons, the party was visited by lots of unusual and creative creatures. Rotary Club President Bill took home a prize for showing his “devilish side,” a nurse was transformed into a vampire, and the local bank manager spent many months preparing for her “Nightmare Before Christmas” costume, to name a few. Check out the Avalon Rotary’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/avalonrotary, to see photos of the great costumes and decorations.
Party- goers feasted on Chef Kathleen’s delicious fare while bidding on silent auction items such as local tours, Two Harbors getaways, Catalina memorabilia, gift baskets, jewelry, and artwork. We even had a lion in the house, Lion’s club member that is! Auctioneer Denny Honsey, lured attendees and online participants into bidding wars. Treasures such as a private boat tour with local historian Doug Bombard, a Bald Eagle Adventure with Dr. Sharpe, a desert getaway vacation, and a local gourmet progressive dinner were a sample of the pirate’s booty. All the proceeds from this year’s event will be going to the Avalon Rotary Scholarship Fund.
