Operation Christmas Child a Roaring Success

Operation Christmas Child a Roaring Success

The Avalon Community Church appreciates everyone who helped make the 2014 participation with Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child (OCC) program another roaring success.  The Avalon community beat last year’s record by upping the count 19 boxes. A total of 158 shoeboxes where shipped out November 24, once again for no charge, by Catalina Flying Boats. This year Leslie Grange gave a 10-percent discount when people purchased shoebox gifts from the Island Toy Store. And, once again, a highlight was the Avalon Girl Scout Troop delivering their shoeboxes during a Sunday Morning church service. Many people participated by donating time, money and/or packing shoeboxes. The shoeboxes will be delivered to children around the world. In early 2015, the Community Church will be notified as to which countries the shoeboxes were sent. In the shoeboxes, children will find practical gifts and toys, and most importantly learn of the Good News of Jesus Christ. To learn more about OCC go online  to operationchristmaschild.org.
