The Avalon Medical Development Corporation (AMDC) announces the appointment of Catalina Island Medical Center’s Director of Medical Services, Dr. Monte Mellon, to its Board of Directors.
He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the AMDC Board as they move forward to address the challenges Catalina Island Medical Center is facing.
Dr. Monte Mellon joined the Catalina Island Medical Center staff in 2009. Board certified in both family and emergency medicine, Dr. Mellon has nearly four decades of experience in emergency
medicine. Before his move to CIMC, Dr. Mellon worked at Scripps Memorial Hospital in San Diego and also founded an emergency medicine training practice in the United States Navy where he
served for 20 years. An avid boater, Dr. Mellon visited the island frequently before moving here full time with his wife Louella.
The AMDC Board meets on the 4th Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Conference Room. The eight-member board will be led by newly elected Board Chairman Michael Ponce,
Vice-Chairman Conrado Vega, Secretary Lisa Moss and Treasurer Catrina Awalt. Other board members are Judy Grear, Trudy Saldana and Bea Van Every.
